Child car chairs typically hold kids from infancy up to the time they weigh about 40 lbs. If you are looking for the best convertible car seat, then you should mull over some issues regarding safety and comfort. If you intend to take your infant with you on car rides, then you will have to get your kid a car chair.

You can get an infant chair first then get a booster when your baby gets older. You also have the choice of getting a convertible version straight away. Infant chairs can be taken of the cradle and used as a baby carrier. Flexible types cannot be removed from the vehicle or used as a carrier. They usually just stay in the car the whole time.

Because they cannot be taken from the car and used as a carrier is considered a disadvantage by some parents. It has its advantages though because convertible seats will not have to be replaced as often as your child grows. Even small toddlers can use a convertible automobile chair.

You should check if the seats you are considering to buy can face both front and rear. Our infants will have to face the back until they reach a year old. Find out if the item you are checking out can face both front and back. Check the weight and size capacity of the seat too. Review the manufacturers manuals before deciding on one type.

Find out what the maximum weight capacity is before getting the unit. Find out if your child will not outgrow the unit right away. If you learn that your child is nearing the weight limit, then you might be better off getting a unit with a booster. Another thing to check is if the seat comes with a latch system that is more user-friendly.

You should also decide on the kind of restraining system for the chair. There are some units that come with lap bars and others that use a five point harness. The five point harness is more common especially for younger kids. If you are getting a lap bar system, make sure the bar is safely padded with soft foam. Decide on the fabric design and color.

Some people move car chairs between two cars. If you plan to move your safety seat a lot, check the weight of the unit. You do not want to get one that is too heavy. A unit that covers all your requirements should be the best convertible car seat. Consider safety before visual appeal first.
