What is Convertible Car Seat?

Convertible Car Seats are the ones that can face forward or backward and can be used by children up to 70 lbs. According to experts, it's safest to keep your child rear facing, at least until they are two years old or when they exceed the maximum rear facing height and weight limits for any particular model.

What to look for when buying a Best Convertible Car Seat?

Parents often run into challenging situation with so many models to choose from. They often have no idea which is the best unit in terms of safety and comfort. Hence, choosing the best model becomes a daunting task for them.

Parents can refer to the following list of must have points while buying the next model for their child.

Installation. Most of the units come with instruction manuals listing step by step instructions on how to install them in the car. If it is not installed correctly, you may end up not restraining your baby properly. Many new models come with locking clips and non twisting straps. Even if you decide to buy a non expensive model that has passed the crash test and it can be installed properly, it can be one of the best models for your baby. On the other hand, if you purchase an expensive high-end model that has numerous features but not installed properly, there is no guarantee that it is going to be safe and secure for your child.

Rear Facing or Forward Facing. It is important to make sure that the model is facing in the appropriate direction depending on your child's age, weight as well as height. When the baby is around 20 pounds and at least one year old, the car seat must be facing the rear. It can be forward facing when the child weighs and ages as per the manufacturer requirements.

Used or New Car Seat. It is best to avoid buying a used model. You may say that it looks as good as new, but there may have been a previous car crash that may have done the damage. It may even fail the second car crash if you decide to get one done. Also, avoid adding additional accessories from another model. They may not be compatible with yours and may fail the crash test as well. Try to get the in-built accessories
